UMass-Amherst’s War on Fun

This news story out of UMass-Amherst is, in the words of Dan Linsalata ’07, “truly astonishing.” UMass’s Daily Collegian doesn’t have anything on the story yet, but one wonders how the school’s administration intends to enforce many of the policies — especially the restriction on the quantity of alcohol upper-class students can possess. Also, in a place like Amherst with so many other colleges in the immediate vicinity, I imagine the new policy will mainly lead to UMass exporting its drunkeness to Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith.

UPDATE: UMass has posted a press release about the decision on their website, although it doesn’t look to offer much more insight into the changes.
