Hockey falls to UVM, must wait on NCAA bid

Dartmouth fell to Vermont 2-1 tonight to lose the quarterfinals series two games to one. The story of the series was special teams. Dartmouth went 0-20 on the PP for the weekend, while Vermont went 5-22, and another one was basically a PP goal as the Dartmouth skater had not yet returned to the play after leaving the box. Dartmouth outscored Vermont 6-2 when the games were played at even-strength.

Dartmouth still has an outside shot at backing into an NCAA berth, but they need a lot of outside help. Most likely the season ended tonight, in what can only be described as a very disappointing ending.

It’s easy to look back and play the “what if” game, but in this case, had Dartmouth merely won the games that they had no business losing, they’d likely be sitting pretty just wondering where they would be playing in two weeks.
