Friday Sports – Playoff Edition

Didn’t catch any of the action today due to travel, but Dartmouth went 3 for 3 in the big events on the day.

Men’s hockey won a laugher over cellar-dwelling Yale, 7-2, in the opening round of the ECAC playoffs. Dartmouth goes for the sweep tomorrow with the hopes of traveling to Vermont next weekend for the quarterfinals.

Women’s hockey handled Colgate 4-0 earlier in the day at Thompson in the ECAC quarters. They too go for the sweep in the best-of-three series tomorrow. If they do, they’ll advance to the ECAC semis at the Achilles Center on Union’s campus.

Women’s hoops defeated Penn 64-49, to improve to 11-1 in the Ancient Eight and lower their magic number to 2. A win tomorrow combined with a Harvard loss would clinch the title and NCAA bid for Dartmouth, otherwise it’ll come down to Tuesday’s game in Cambridge. There will be a free bus to and from Harvard for those who wish to support the team.

Men’s hoops lost at Ivy Champion Penn, 64-37. They’ll wrap up their season tomorrow at Princeton.
