State of the College Poll

The SA released the results today of their “State of the College” Poll. Not many surprises to be found: most students feel they don’t know what the administration’s vision for the College is, think the College’s regulation of the Greek system is too strict, and are unsatisfied with the availability of Greenprint stations and undergraduate parking.

The SA’s summary of the poll follows:

1. ADMINISTRATION/STUDENT RELATIONS:

Only 24.9% of survey respondents agree or strongly agree with the statement:
“I feel the administration is responsive to concerns of the student body.”

Only 10.8% of respondents agree or strongly agree with the statement:
“I feel informed about the Campaign for the Dartmouth Experience.”

Only 11.4% of respondents agree or strongly agree with the statement:
“I understand the administration’s visions for Dartmouth in 10 years.”

2. THE GOOD SAMARITAN POLICY:

Less than half (44.7%) of respondents agree or strongly agree with the statement:
“I understand the Good Samaritan policy and would be comfortable using it.”

In addition, 84.4% of respondents agree or stongly agree with the statement:
“I would be more likely to use the Good Samaritan policy if I knew there would be no chance of me or the intoxicated person being disciplined by the college.”

3. COLLEGE RELATIONS WITH THE GREEK SYSTEM:
Only 16.8% of respondents agree or strongly agree with the statement:
“I am satisfied with the administration’s interactions with the Greek system.”

Also, nearly five times more students believe “The College’s regulations regarding the Greek system are too strict” than believe “The College’s regulations regarding the Greek system are not strict enough” (173 responses for “Too strict” and 35 responses for Not strict enough”).

4. GREENPRINT:
Only 37.7% of respondents agree or strongly agree with the statement:
“I am satisfied with the number of locations of Dartmouth Greenprint.”

5. PARKING:
Only 7.0% of respondents agree or strongly agree with the following statement:
“I feel there is adequate parking for undergraduates at Dartmouth College.”
