Kyle Hendricks ’12 Signs with Texas Rangers

Last month, the Texas Rangers selected Kyle Hendricks ’12 in the eighth round as the 264th player in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Hendricks was the only player selected out of the Ivy League in the first ten rounds of the 2011 draft. The Indian pitcher was also drafted out of high school in 2008 by the Los Angeles Angels, but declined to come play in Hanover.

Hendricks is currently playing in the minors at Spokane, Washington. In order to move up the ranks quickly, the righty is focused on player development and improving his game each day. The Rangers have offered to pay tuition for his remaining classes at Dartmouth. He plans to return to Hanover in the fall unless the Rangers send him to an Arizona instructional league after he finishes the schedule at Spokane.
