Indians Finish Strong

The Indian football squad has finished 6-4 overall and 3-4 Ivy, their strongest showing since 2003 (5-5, 4-3) and their first winning season since  1997 by thrashing the Princeton Tigers 31-0.

Schwieger: a key cog in the Dartmouth O.The Indian O scored during each quarter, with three TDs coming courtesy of Nick Schwieger and the fourth coming from QB Dan Rooney tossing a sixty-nine yard strike to Tim McManus. Foley Schmidt tacked on a field goal in the third quarter in addition to connecting on all his PATs.  The ground game was the focus; Nick Schwieger provided most of the yardage, toting the rock 26 times for 105 yards. Schwieger brought his TD total to 14 for the season, tying him with Bill King ‘63 for most in a season. The Indians only threw the ball 18 times.

On an interesting note, it was the first time the Indians took down the Tigers since 2003 and the first shutout the team has thrown since 1996 against Columbia. Princeton was 3-13 (23%) on third down attempts and 2-6 on fourth down (33%). The secondary held Princeton to 18 completions and 4.8 yards per attempt.

Wah-hoo-wah!
