Dartmouth’s top line accounted for all three goals in a hard fought, 3-2 victory over Vermont tonight in game one of the ECAC quarterfinals. Lee Stempniak tipped a Sean Offers shot past the UVM goalie midway through the 3rd period for the game winning goal.
Game 2 of the best-of-three series is tomorrow night.
To qualify for the NCAA tournament, Dartmouth likely needs two more wins – one tomorrow or Sunday against Vermont and then one more in Albany in either the semifinals or the consolation matchup. Obviously three wins puts Dartmouth in the tournament as the ECAC champion.
Cornell, Harvard, and Colgate also won tonight in their quarterfinal matchups.
