AoA condemns Board’s expansion

The Association of Alumni’s executive committee, which represents the 68,000 living Dartmouth alums, has come out against the Governance Committee’s decision overhaul the 116 year precedent of parity on the Board of Trustees. As Chairman of the Board Ed Haldeman declared several days ago, the Board will expand its membership from 16 to 24 trustees by adding 8 charter trustees. That makes 8 competitively elected trustees and 16 appointed trustees. We still await word from the AoA about its official course of action in light of the Board’s violation of the 1891 agreement.

Also, the Board’s expansion is receiving national press with this piece in today’s New York Times.
