This past week, Governor Craig Benson appointed a radical, anti-gay activist to serve on the Human

Rights Commission, which is specifically charged with “assuring no person be discriminated against

on account of sexual orientation.”

WE NEED YOU TO HELP STOP THIS NOMINATION.

Rep. Gary Daniels, who led the fight against the creation of the Commission in 1997, said during

debate over the commission that homosexuality is unnatural, immoral, unhealthy and “primarily

responsible for the spread of AIDS.”

After being nominated by Benson last week, Daniels again maintained that sexual orientation should

not be protected under law, saying “sexual orientation is not a constitutional right.” (Concord

Monitor, 2/25/03)

HOW CAN YOU STOP THIS RADICAL, ANTI-GAY ACTIVIST FROM ROLLING BACK CIVIL RIGHTS AND EQUAL

PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW?

The five member Executive Council will vote on this nomination on Wednesday, March 5th. Two

Councilors have already expressed concern about Daniels. Take a minute to call and email your

councilor and tell them you are strongly opposed to this nomination.

Don’t assume someone else will make the call – we need each and every voice to stop this

nomination.
